Adium crashes, loss of last chat logs

Post by cometbus »

Hello, sometimes Adium barfs on me, no big deal, I just force quit it from the spinning beach ball and start new. Trouble is, it loses the entire log history, so if I have a 2 hour long IM with someone, crash, then relaunch, that 2 hours is not in the logs.

How often does Adium write to the logs, and where is the crash log so I can submit it?

Adium writes the logs after every message. They are still there, although in-window chat history is not saved until the window closes. Check your Log Viewer (Window->Log Viewer).

Under what email are you submitting crash reports via the Adium Crash Reporter?

I see what is happening, the logs ARE written, i just verified that. When I relaunch Aduim, the preview of the past convo, which could be part of the style I am using, I am not sure if all styles use this feature, but the past conversation preview is very old, *that* is not getting updated to reflect what really was the last conversation.

As for the crash reporting, I never get that far, I get a indefinite beach ball all the time, I have to force quit it, I have only ever once seen the crash report dialogue come up, ages ago. Are there crash report logs in disk somewhere?

Interesting. If you force quit, the system doesn't write out a crash log.

Try getting sample output as it beachballs, using the Activity Monitor program in /Applications/Utilities. Look for Sample under the Process menu.
