Can't log into Facebook

I've checked and re-checked my login information, Adium won't let me log into Facebook. Can we fix this please?!

I'm having this problem too, but only when I try to log in from home over a satellite connection.

Seriously this is starting to get really frustrating. Facebook chat has not worked for me at all in over a week.
I go to work with my laptop every morning and enable my Facebook account and it instantly signs in and I use it all throughout the day without trouble, then I come home and it just endless spins away trying to connect but never does, so I have to disable the account.

At no point did I ever make any changes to my connection settings or network and I have always had this notebook on the DMZ.
Surely my ISP isn't doing something that would prevent Facebook from connecting, but what the heck is causing this?

There must be some explanation as to WHY this has started happening. Apparently not many of us have this problem but still there should be something we can do about it.

Facebook has never worked for me in Adium.

Ok, I had reopened #10539 yesterday.
Logging in doesn't work for me, either, by the way.

I have never been able to log onto facebook chat on my macbook. I'm using 1.3.1b2 and have tried multiple accounts.

It tries for a minute or so and then processor use goes upto 160%.

The strange thing is I can connect to facebook chat fine on my PPC iMac on the same network. Would it be helpful to post logs?

Edit - Im on 10.4.10 on my macbook and 10.4.11 on the imac.

Has this issue been resolved at all yet? I installed Adium on Saturday and it was letting me log into facebook up until yesterday and it hasn't worked since. It tries to log in but doesn't get anywhere.

I just asked a question about facebook on another thread... but it was a little different... but maybe my problem will help you understand your problem... maybe, maybe not...

2) Also about facebook - this is something that has always been true about facebook: if I open a second window then it logs me out of the first window of facebook. So NOW with Adium I notice that every time a new contact even logs in (and I have over 2000 people) it is as if it has opened a new facebook window - and therefore I get logged out and have to log in again every minute! Is there away to have facebook on Adium and still be able to browse my facebook account with out getting kicked out?

So my reason to bring this up here is: do you think you just can't have both Adium AND facebook open at the same time because facebook kicks you off all the time? I find that my Adium chat for facebook works GREAT if I'm not on facebook trying to scroll and do other stuff. And then if Adium is off my chat works great on facebook. This is a known limitation which was mentioned in the Release Notes.

You shouldn't get logged out when a contact comes online, however. This is possibly a bug which you can file at our bugtracking system. Please make sure you Reporting Bugs before doing so.

I am having the exact same problem. Facebook has never worked for me, and I keep getting a prompt to enter my password, even though it's correct. I've tried deleting the Adium folder in Application Support and the file in Preferences to no avail. However, when I try it on a different user account on my machine or another computer, it works perfectly. Please tell me that there is a solution to this other than deleting my user account and making a new one!

OK, I've managed to finally get it working. According to ticket #10539 linked to by Robbie earlier in the thread, the problem had something to do with cookies in Safari. Once I enabled cookies in Safari and logged into Facebook through there, Adium now connects and works!

Facebook has also never worked for me through all the versions that allegedly supported it. It says that it is logged in but no buddies show up in the buddy list (whether online or not). I don't see how changing safari would change that and I accept cookies in safari anyway. I have a macbook with latest updates.

Yeah, the 10.4.11 update stops Motion working on my 1st rev Macbook and I need it for work.
Should that make a difference?

I have updated to 1.3.2 and also tried the safari cookie fix but neither has fixed the issue.

Does anyone know when facebook is changing the protocol for there chat?
