showing each user status message on separate line?
showing each user status message on separate line?
hi, since the latest version of Adium, i see that it updates a buddies status message all on the same line instead of breaking out each individual status message (like it used to). i understand this has been a much requested feature, but is there a way to go back to the "old adium" style where each status message is displayed on it's own line?
thanks... josh

You mean in conversation windows, right? I'm experiencing the same annoyance.

correct. i want to see:Prime wrote:You mean in conversation windows, right? I'm experiencing the same annoyance.
10:03 - user went away
10:07 - user came back
10:33 - user disconnected
10:45 - user connected
this is how it used to show until recently. i understand the desire for only the latest status message to show, but it should be an option in the preferences.

Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
I second that remark. For me, that tends to be very useful information.
Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
I agree. I didn't even understand what it was doing until i saw this thread, i thought it was just broken. :/
Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
Well...add me to the list of people who find the new behavior, without an option to revert back to the way it used to be, annoying.
Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
I agree that this should be a preference, and I've been thinking of a good way to make it a preference. Obviously it's a confusing thing to say: "Only display the latest status messages in a conversation" defaulting to a YES value.
Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
I would much favour the solution described in #8957. However, I've been told some very complicated changes would have to be made.
Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
I am eagerly waiting for the old behavior to be reinstated (or an option to toggle it).
I thought this was a bug with the new version -- as many other did, I see.
To me, the log of old status messages itself was a feature of Adium over the official clients. I can see the current status of the person I am talking to, why do I need it displayed at all in the chat window, if not so I could follow the recent activity of away/disconnected/etc?
So... for now I've reverted to an old version.

Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
It's a big enough deal for me to consider the same, but doesn't the newer version have a new log format that would make recent logs unreadable?

What makes you say that?ptower wrote:[...]doesn't the newer version have a new log format that would make recent logs unreadable?
Re: showing each user status message on separate line?
The fact that, since I upgraded, events are written to an XML file inside of a .chatlog folder instead of to a .chatlog file.Robby wrote:What makes you say that?ptower wrote:[...]doesn't the newer version have a new log format that would make recent logs unreadable?
Does the old version read the newer xml files? I'm holding out hope that there's a quick update to allow the old behavior before "downgrading," but it would be good to know the drawbacks.
