Memory and CPU/Fan Notifications?

Post by masterkenzo »

Hey there everyone,

First of all I'd like to say that I absolutely love Growl. It's really cleared up my workflow a lot. I just have a couple of questions:

Is there any way that I could set up Growl to notify me when my Macbook is paging out the RAM? (Like, when I've got too many programs open and Mac OSX decides to write some of the RAM to disk)

Also, it'd be really cool to have a CPU temperature alert. I'd like to remove smcFanControl from my menubar, but I want to still be notified when my fans begin to spin up to cool my computer down.

Now I know this obviously isn't functionality that would be included in Growl itself but I was wondering if anyone could possibly suggest an app or other third-party solution to my problem.

I tried to see if iStat or the iStat Dashboard widget would do this - but all it says is that they plan Growl support but haven't implemented it yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

The only way I can think of (without Growl) is setting the Activitydock on System-memory and keep an eye on the green part. :)
