Growl does not work

i downloaded the new growl and it says that it is running in my system preferences it says growl is running.. but when ever i get an instant message on the growl notifications do not appear... i have tried un installing and re installing it but it still does not work.. how can i fix this problem?

I have exactly the same problem!

Someone please help because I've become so used to Growl and after a fresh Leopard install I haven't been able to get it to work and it's driving me insane!

I have the same issue -- well, at least with Adium (and perhaps GrowlTunes, I'm not sure).
Since upgrading to Leopard, I haven't been able to get growl to give me New IM notifications, though GrowlMail is working just fine.
Any help, anyone?

Mine works fine with Transmission, but not with Adium.
