Shadows when scrolling, help!

Post by Lullapalooza »

I don't know if this is normal, but whenever I scroll up through a conversation, it always leaves some kind of strange shadow from the most recent text. I'm not sure how to get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here's a screen shot:

Sometime recently webkit stopped calling drawRect: properly when it's performing updates, and as such we're not able to invalidate the shadow on the window (to force a redraw) on changes with a transparent background. There's a few hacks we could do, such as invalidating every 0.25 seconds for x seconds, or something along those lines, but a clean solution would be the better way. If you disable smooth scrolling it would remove the problem, but this is something that is currently not fixable in the current release.

Thanks for your help.

Could you let me know how to disable smooth scrolling? I don't see that option in the preferences window.

I should really check if we've filed this one with the WebKit folks yet. Thanks for the reminder.

Try the Appearance pane in System Preferences. I'm not sure Adium itself has a smooth scrolling option.
