Sorry Tick

Post by MajorPain »

I am sorry if I came across in a berating fashion to my earlier post Tick...I did'nt mean to. I appreciate this forum and the service you provide with it. I was'nt blaming you or anyone else for my "lack" of investigation on what to get for my daughter. I did ask around to some of the "knowledgable" PC people I know and even to a couple of the PC stores in my area. They all mentioned that the OS X was the way to go.....but what they neglected to tell me was that there was more then one version of "X". I thought nothing of it when I won the bid for it on eBay. My bad.
Sorry again The Tick....

It's alright, no worries.

Anyhow, let's continue on it. Can you get the official aim client to work on her machine? It might work with 10.0. If she only needs aim, this might work out.

Alternatively, would you be able to return the machine from where you purchased it? My thought is that you probably paid about 300 bucks for it, maybe less. A lamp looking imac isn't that much more than 300 bucks on ebay, and might be worth it to get to that instead.

Also, you might be able to get 10.1 for cheap/free from apple directly, since you do have 10.0. If you did that, you could probably use an older version of fire. http://fire.sf.net is where fire is located.

Post back with any info or questions you have on any of these.

Looking at aim.com, the official AIM client's min requirements are 10.1. It's also available for OS9

I know this might not be quite what you're looking for, Pain, but I found this site with great deals. Even on older OSes for sale.

Maybe that would help you?
