Okay I'm sorry that I couldnt figure this out myself by doing a search on the forums or trac.
Adium version 1.3.2
For offline messages it seems as if Yahoo and AIM seem to be fine as far as I know so far but MSN is strange. When I send offline messages from MSN to other MSN users they dont get them but I can send offline messages from MSN to Yahoo users(not vice versa) and have them be received. So why is it that sending offline to Yahoo from MSN is possible but MSN to MSN is not, even though I can receive offline messages from MSN users on MSN?
EDIT: Okay correction, some get offline messages from me and others dont i found out just now
When sending to a yahoo user who's offline, Yahoo itself actually stores the message and delivers it when the user comes online. I don't think MSN or others do that. Does that explain the difference?
By the way, here's a (kind of hacky, but kind of cool) way to deal with the problem of not knowing which messages actually got through: http://www.adiumxtras.com/xtra/6312
(And there's more background on the idea here: http://yootles.com/nims )
We just released another version that supports both osx 10.4 and 10.5 and fixes some other weirdnesses. If you'd be willing to IM me (pegarmpaul on aim/yahoo or dreeves on gmail chat) to let me know what went wrong, I'd really appreciate it! (Or replying here is fine too, of course.)
I experience the problem that often i dont receive MSN messages sent to me when I was offline. And when I do receive them it is at random times (It has happened that in the middle of the night MSN started receiving messages that were sent to me days before).
