Installed twice -- issue or not?

Post by gnj »

I have that displaying.

I did a search and found a (the?) developer used the words --- once sounding like it might be a problem --- another time sounding like it is an OS issue. I am unable to find anything usefully definitive on the subject. :?

Is it a problem, or not? Does it need fixing? If so, how?

The issue is that if it is installed twice (once for the current user, once for the whole system), the pref pane only updates one of them, and the other could be an old version.

The install button changes to correcting the installation when it detects this situation.

Installed twice -- Still

Post by gnj »

OK ---
1. I looked at the root and the users --- root is the only place that has the preference pane.

2. Clicking "correct Installation" did nothing (Ver 1.1.3)

Soooooo ---- I ask the same two questions again because I still have the "Perian is Installed Twice" display ----

Installed twice is referring to the quicktime components, not the pref pane.

OK
I went to ~/Library/Quicktime for each user and cleared Perian out of there.

Now the only Library/Quicktime folder it is in is at the root. "Installed twice" no longer shows.

I knew what you meant in the first message, I just said the wrong thing. I though I mentioned that the components were installed twice, but instead I said "it". Sorry about that.
