Perian vs other quicktime plugins

No, not what you think... I've got a bunch of other Quicktime plugins installed, and I'm wondering about overlap and potential conflicts. How does Quicktime know to use Perian instead of Flip4Mac? Now that I have Perian, and I get rid of Flip, DivX and some other seemingly redundant plugins?

Perian doesn't do anything flip4mac does. Look on perian.org for information on which components you should remove if you intend to use Perian.
