Does anyone know if the Perian auto-updater downloads new updates on the background or if it simply polls the website to check and then asks the user if it should download those updates?
I often access the net via 3G by tethering the Mac to my phone and using its data plan, which can be quite expensive, specially if I happen to be on roaming. Auto-downloading stuff on the background while on roaming can result on a very high phone bill.
