problem with chat notifications, facebook

Post by Sequoyah »

Ok, so here is my problem. I have been running Adium as my main chat client for a couple of years now with nary a problem. I also use Growl for notifications. Yesterday I decided to enable my Facebook account and like others have commented, I quickly became annoyed with the increased bombardment of notifications. I get a visual and audio notification which is fine for me but it is driving me and particularly, the wife, crazy. So in the interest of matrimonial harmony I decided to try and differentiate between FB and the rest. The problem is that no matter what I try I can't get the audio notifications to work properly for each account. Currently I get the visuals but only get an audio notification when someone disconnects. What I want are the visual notification and separate audio notifications for FB and the rest.

Here is what I have done:
1. I tuned off the audio notifications in the Adium preferences under the "Events" tab. I left the "Display Growl notification"
2. I then went to each group and right clicked on each, went to get info and set the notifications on a per group basis.

So this should work, right? Well it did for a little while with mixed results. I was getting mixed up sounds at one point, but now as I stated above only get the audio notification when someone signs off. At least they are now coming from the appropriate groups.

Anyone have any suggestions? It's driving me nuts :smt013 :**(

Thanks

* Update 2/25 this morning the behavior is the opposite, now I get audio notifications when people sign on but not when they sign off. WTF?

* Update 2/28 now it is back to the original behavior, this is crazy.
