uninstall

Post by budoink »

i hate you, your duck, and all your blood relatives (and all variances thereof). How do i completely remove the duck from my beloved mac?

not that anybody really would want to, but i think it's quite important info that should be available in all apps.

I'm afraid no.

By installing Adium X, you have signed over any and all rights to your email address, your house, your car, your first born and your soul. You may not sue the almighty duck, ever, and this disclaimer is subject to change without notice, and you are still subject to the rules regardless of any changes made. If you do not agree with these rules, then you should have thought about that before installing our sacred application.

Edit: ok, ok.

To remove Adium you can simply drag its icon to the trash from the Applications folder (or wherever you installed it). To remove the extras trash the folder called "Adium 2.0" inside the "Application Support" folder of your home directory's library. However, the developers would much prefer it if you could let us know why it is you've decided to stop using Adium X, rather than just giving up on it.

Anything I've missed?

Don't forget the preference files. Their are 2 or 3 preference files in ~/Library/Preferences/. I can't remember what the names are, but they include "adium" in their names, so I usually just do a search in that folder for adium. Also their will be an Adium 2.0 folder and preference files for every login user that has ever opened adium.

Ok here it is for real:

To uninstall Adium remove the following files:
Applications/Adium (you may have installed adium in another folder, if so remove it from that location.
~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0
~/Library/Preferences/com.adiumX.adiumX.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.adiumx.crashReporter.plist

Yeah I was gonna mention them, I usually just trash anything coming up in a search as well (if it all goes boobs-up for example) but they're only a few k big so couldn't really be bothered :p, still at least it's there now.
