Hello,
I have just started using Adium. Installed it on my MacBook Pro, with Mac OS X 10.5.6 - and runs pretty smoothly, however I am a bit concerned about Adium actually disconnecting from the networks I use (GG, AIM, MSN, Facebook Chat) when the computer goes to sleep - it seems that everytime I wake him up, it reconnects back to the networks. My question is - is there any way to keep the connection regardless of my computer being active/inactive?
Many thanks for the suggestions, all kinds of tips would be greatly appreciated.

Adium disconnecting when MacBook Pro goes to sleep?
Re: Adium disconnecting when MacBook Pro goes to sleep?
Your Mac doesn't have an internet connection when it's in sleep mode so Adium will disconnect, of course.

The only real thing that you can do, that I can think of, is to not allow your macbook to go to sleep. To do this go to "Energy Saver Preferences". One way to do this is to click the apple on the top left-hand corner and click on "System Preferences..." and under bolded heading "Hardware" you will see a light bulb icon named "Energy Saver". When you click it and click Show Details you will see there are two bars. The top bar is what you want to use. Slide it all the way over to "Never". Do this for "Power Adapter" and "Battery" (They are listed next to "Settings for:" in a drop down box).dynamitri wrote:Many thanks for the suggestions, all kinds of tips would be greatly appreciated.
This will make it so that your computer never sleeps EXCEPT if you close your macbook lid.
The lowest bar is to activate the sleep for the monitor... this shouldn't effect your internet at all.
Just to let you know, its better to let it sleep, it uses less power and the computer won't heat up like when it is on. I also heard that there was a program that allows you to close your macbook lid and not have it go to sleep. But this would probably damage your computer, as it is more likely to overheat. From what I heard, heat is also released through the keyboard... maybe its older models, maybe its a false statement... I don't know, I am on my first macbook myself.
