[REQ] Horizontal contact lists

Post by class07 »

I just thought it would be cool if instead of having a vertical list you could have them like horizontally across the bottom. Or if you could but the groups next to each other instead of above and below eachother.

First of all, someone already did this. The main issue is that it's hard to present a fair amount of buddies horizontally. It seems sort of like a waste of space to me, you'd have to have different rows, and hard to separate groups.

Works perfect for people with few friends like you :P

Agreed. We should add an option to remove the names from the contact list for the truly minimalists.

Do you mean names as in your buddies user names? Because you can already do that with icon only setting. If you mean group names, then yes--that would be cool. It would be even more like iChat's buddy list.

I didn't realize we had an icon-only mode.

Also, you can remove groups in .80.

what i think would be cool is to be able to move groups around independently. maybe a sticky effect when they are close together they snap in place but maybe option drag a group or something would let me put group a on one side of my desktop and group b on the other..

Where's the icon only setting?

And group names can be hidden in 0.80 -- view->hide group names

You know.. I don't remember now how I got mine to do icon only... maybe it was a random extra I downloaded and installed. Hmm... I'll find it when I get back from dinner.

You can make the list so small, that only the icons are shown.

Here's the link to download it if you want the choice to only see icons.

This is pretty much what I meant from the beginning would there be any way of getting this to work or just being able to make multiple buddy lists.

I know this is an old thread, and people might not want it bumped up, but I really want to say that I'd love this feature!
That's all :)

Do not do this. Trac is where you request features.
