Filter/block messages based on content

Post by grintoul »

Hi all,

I was wondering whether there's a way to filter my incoming messages, for instance using an AppleScript? A bunch of my contacts have viruses that send me messages, and although I've told them not everyone has done something about it. However, the messages have common words - 'acai berry' (bizarrely) and 'horny' being the common ones! So what I'd like to do is check whether what a contact says contains any of a list of words such as these, and if so don't display it.

A long shot, but if it's not possible it's maybe worth considering a word/phrase blacklisting option for the future? What do people think?

Thanks in advance

I'd love something like this. Using MSN I receive two o three spam messages per hour!

I agree. Ever if you turn on all blocks in ICQ account spam comes through in autorisation messages. But almost always spam messages contains http or www or something. Words filter would be very useful.

There's a script on AdiumXtras that requires people that write messages, to answer a simple question ("What is 2+4?" for instance), before Adium will let the messages through.

I think that filtering the messages would be easier, someone has the ability to write such a plugin?
