i install a theme, but i cant put it on...

i give you an example i am now using overture (translucid black) and it works fine, but when i try to put the notebook them or aqualicious or any other theme it doesnt work, it turns the background white just like overture but white. I changed opacity to 100% and nothing... i cant change my theme because i can see how it really is help?
