10.3.9 scrollbar bug...

Post by Sipefree »

It seems in OS X 10.3.9 the scrollbar does not automatically scroll down when a new message is sent, at least on my configuration.. After 2 minutes this became very old and I am almost driven mad.

Please say this can be fixed somehow.

Thanks,
Sipefree.

Edit: I apologize, didn't mean to be such a jerk, I'm usually a nice guy (honest).

Thank you for the sarcasm. I happen to not be an average braindead n00b, so I will look at the source code.

I wasn't being sarcastic, nor trying to offend at all, I didn't assume that you're "an average braindead n00b" as you put it, and it would be a great if you could patch it.

Webkit was updated when 10.3.9 came out, and I'm guessing we're just gonna have to wait for a new beta to come out.

Also, welcome to the forums, but please search before posting.
Please refrain from telling posters to "Go code it yourself" and "Search before posting". Comments such as these do nothing to further the discussion and only serve to make people angry.

Scrolling problems in 10.3.9 are the fault of 3rd party message styles.

Style authors are encouraged to properly maintain their message styles, specifically updating styles to version 3 and removing any custom BOM scripts unless absolutely necessary.

In mokie OPE .. it's the "animated" scrolling code that no longer works.. you can easily fix by editin the Template file in the style's directory ... (of course you have to sort of understand HTML, javascript, and what you're doing :P)

You, or someone else, has mentioned this before. What are the differences between versions?

You can imagine the number of results a search for this brought up. :)

I don't think this is an Adium issue. It'll have nothing to do with v3 message styles. I see the problem. And I want to fix it. But I don't know JS.

Yeah, the problem definitely lies with the "smooth scrolling" code. I'd heard it didn't work in Tiger, then lo and behold 10.3.9 breaks it in the same way. If anyone wants to make their copy of a broken style work again, you just have to replace that section of code in Template.html with the corresponding (much shorter) code from a style which still works. :)
