Hey everyone,
most of you will have come across the in-app "Help" or the Adium Wiki (link) sometime. We certainly hope the documentation you found there was of some help to you.
Nevertheless, we are always looking to improve it and make it more user-friendly.
So we'd love to see you, the community, suggest improvements, name things that are unclear etc. etc.
Thanks, Robby

Re: Community project: Help improve the Adium documentation!
A couple things to ask:
1.) On the page:
http://trac.adium.im/wiki
...there's a section grouping what a general Adium user can contribute, and what an aspiring Adium "Contributor" can contribute. But neither of these groups indicate whether and how changes can be made to the wiki documentation. I suggest that we direct users to the proper IRC channels, threads, or any other method of communication to suggest wiki doc changes. (I'm assuming "code documentation" doesn't fall under this category, as it doesn't cover general documentation.)
2.) I also suggest a couple updates on this page:
http://trac.adium.im/wiki/AdiumForiPhone
What has changed since the last update 4 months ago is that, although background processes still aren't allowed for 3rd party apps, I'm curious to see what Adium's team has to say about notifications in OS 3.0. I also suggest adding the official Yahoo! Messenger iPhone app to the list below "The official AIM client" and "The official QQ client". (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSt ... 19097&mt=8)
Thanks!

Does http://trac.adium.im/wiki/WikiStart?act ... version=94 achieve what you suggested?chimerical wrote:A couple things to ask:

I've added the official Yahoo client: http://trac.adium.im/wiki/AdiumForiPhon ... version=24.chimerical wrote:2.) I also suggest a couple updates on this page:

I am aware of the fact that otherwise the page isn't up-to-date either but I can't speak for the developers.
Thanks, keep the suggestions coming!

Re: Community project: Help improve the Adium documentation!
2b.) In light of Wikipedia releasing an open source official iPhone application to the iTunes App Store, I was wondering if the Adium team could post their thoughts about following the same model for Adium (things to consider, etc.).

Yep, that Wiki entry is outdated. As I'm no programmer I can't really say much about the topic.
In the past, there was a discussion on the developers' mailing list in January 2009: http://adium.im/pipermail/devel_adium.i ... .html#6158.

Thanks for this thread. Best insight into the thought process thus far.
Re: ★ Community project: Help improve the Adium documentation!
You're welcome. Note that some of the mails are from "random" people who are not closely associated to Adium, let alone developers.

Re: ★ Community project: Help improve the Adium documentation!
I don't think this counts as documentation, but on this page:
http://trac.adium.im/roadmap
it still shows "Milestone Adium 1.3.9", despite 1.3.10 being the current stable version (http://trac.adium.im/wiki/AdiumVersionHistory).

Re: ★ Community project: Help improve the Adium documentation!
Thanks, I've fixed that. Every little bit helps.

I could use some help with the Twitter and IRC articles for 1.4. Users of the Adium Beta, you are very welcome to get involved. Just send me a PM!
