Buddy icons not working

Hello all. I am having problems. My buddy icon is not being transmitted to other Yahoo users. I can test this myself also by logging with Yahoo chat with a different idea and then trying to communicate with myself on Adium between my two different user ids. Neither icon is showing up in the other. Everyone I'm chatting with is telling me that they don't see my buddy icon. It was working before, not sure why not now. I've already tried to remove all Extras and also remote the preferences to see if that would fix it, which it did not. I have also rolled back to the non-beta version of Adium.

After I removed prefs, none of my friend's buddy icons came through to me either. Something is totally blocking buddy icons.

Does anyone have any idea what i need to do in order to get buddy icons working properly again?

So let's say I have userA in Yahoo Messenger and userB in Adium. If I quit Adium and quit YM. Then I login userA to yahoo messenger, but don't start adium yet, then YM can see userB's icon that was previously setup in Adium. However the minute I startup Adium and login as userB, then the buddy icon of userB that was previously being displayed properly in Yahoo goes away.

Adium is doing something squirrely. Nobody can see my Adium buddy icon. I guess unless I'm logged off?

I have no immediate solution but I can tell you what's going on with Yahoo:

Not long ago Yahoo updated their protocol. Adium 1.3.5 features an updated version of libpurple (http://trac.adium.im/wiki/AdiumVersionHistory) which fixed the login issues that resulted from Yahoo's changes. However, other bugs like missing buddy icons, failing file transfers and "Yahoo contacts appear online but have really signed off" turned up. Hopefully, they'll be fixed in the next version of Adium, the Pidgin guys have been working on these issues.

I have a similar issue. I upgraded to Snow Leopard this weekend and all of the sudden have this problem. If Adium is opened in Leopard the buddy icon works fine. iChat also shows the icon correctly, but if Adium is opened right after in SL the icon is visible for a minute but then quickly disappears. This is using aim, not sure about other services. Tried 1.3.6 and the 1.4b9 beta as well and both have the same issue in Snow Leopard. Any suggestions?

I can confirm this on Snow Leopard, too. My friend's iChat couldn't see my Adium buddy icon.

Yeah, I only noticed the problem when talking to someone using adium who had a ? for an icon and then when I mentioned it said they could not see mine either. (Both on Snow Leopard).

I, too, am having the same problem after installing Snow Leopard. Anyone know if there has been a fix yet?

This bug has been reported: http://trac.adium.im/ticket/12982. It appears it is a Snow Leopard regression in Adium. I'll add this to the "Known Issues" thread. You can follow progress on that ticket.

Is this AIM-only?

I'm having the problem with both AIM and Yahoo Messenger.
