Two random questions (buddy list/contact related)

Okay, bear with me on this, I'm not sure what on earth is going on and might not be able to explain it well. xD

The first issue -- I recently reinstalled Adium because I had to restore my computer. Some tiny things are out of place, like a few contacts being uncombined and such, but otherwise it's all working out. However, something weird is happening when I try to re-combine these contacts... and that is whenever I combine two contacts, they take a completely different name, and those names are all of people I have/used to have on my blocked list. 0.o;' For example I combined two named 'Saknika' and they turned into 'Carrie.' I have no idea why it's doing that, but it's creeping me out. Is this known? I looked in the stickies and skimmed a few threads but didn't see anything.

Second is a issue on my end because I can't remember how to do it. On the contact window, where it will show the category, for example 'Buddies,' then show the amount of contacts total, and how many of those are online (ex, 'Buddies 16/29') how do you get the number of contacts to show up? I had it at one point but can't find it anymore. >.<

1. I had it, but then I had to reboot my computer, so I lost the program, I had to re-download it and install it fresh. (Though usually I'd be referring to removing the program, and then installing it again.)

Alright. I guess by reboot you mean the "restore" you mentioned in your first post.

I suggest you troubleshoot your prefs as explained in http://trac.adium.im/wiki/Preferences#T ... references.

Okay, I'll try that out if it continues. It's nothing huge, just wanted to know if it was a bug or something. I didn't have the issue before, and I think I'm still using the same version. (If it helps, I did copy some information from the 'old' Adium folder before I rebooted my computer to save chat logs and things, though I'm not sure how that'd affect the names.) It's no big deal to simply rename them, just wondered if it was just me. xD

Also, where can I find the options for that second question, about the number of contacts online showing on my contact list?

I haven't heard of such an issue and haven't experienced it myself.

"Rebooting" - there it is again! Rebooting means merely "restarting". What you did, was a fresh install of OS X.

Copying logs is a good idea for sure but partly reusing other prefs possibly resulting in incomplete data could be the culprit - hence my suggestion to troubleshoot them.

That would be in the fourth section of the "View" menu.
