How do I clear chat window?

Sorry if this is posed else where, but I searched for clear chat and I haven't seen an answer.

What do I click to clear the current chat text from the front-most chat window? Closing the window doesn't clear it.

Close chat window.
Go to Adium preferences.
Go to the "General" section.
Disable "Show X recent messages in new chats".
Open new chat window.

You should no longer see previous messages in the chat window.

In version 1.4 it should be possible to clear the chat window by entering /clear.
