MSN contacts don't get notified that I added them

Hi,

I'm having a rather peculiar 'problem' with Adium 1.3.8 . Whenever I add an MSN contact to my list, they don't get asked to authorize me. In fact, at no point are they aware that I added them (at least not until I start a chat-session with them ). Doing a 'get info' on them will also show that they haven't added me to their list, yet I am fully able to see their online status and screen-name. So basically, I can spy on them (or at least check on them being online or not) without them knowing . But what's even more, if I open the official MSN client for Mac they all appear in this contact list too, and I can see their statuses and screen-names as well. So apparently these contacts get added to my server-side contact list alright, but without being asked authorization or being warned that I added them. If I try to add the contact using Messenger however, he or she gets notified normally.

Has anyone else encountered this behaviour? I suppose this is not exactly a critical issue; but still, it would be a lot more convenient if contacts actually get notified when I add them tbh .

Ive had a similar problem before in the past on a few previous versions of adium. Yet it only happened sometimes yet not all the time. Usually it took several tries of both of us adding eachother manually helped work around the problem or just deleting and trying again.

forgot to mention is seems to happen on @hotmail accounts more than @live acccounts or it happens on international accounts sometimes too.
