cannot add msn contacts

i'm new using adium with a gmail account and i tried adding msn contacts but it only had the options of adding jabber or google talk... is there a way of adding msn contacts since all of my contacts are... msn contacts.????

Yeah, proprietary services are annoying and the main reason for clients like Adium that bring support for multiple services together in one application.

One of my msn contacts uses a @gmail.com account and it works perfectly fine for me to talk to him. I think he is using his gmail on microsoft messenger. Maybe you could try adding your gtalk as an msn account on adium if possible it may work? I would assume you would still have to log in seporatly on gtalk to talk to gtalk people but this way you will not have to remember another acocunt address and password and no need to start another account with msn/hotmail/live. Its worth a try. I also have another contact who uses @AIM.com while using msn but that does not mean i can send messages to thier AIM, its just they used that account on MSN instead of the usual of using MSN/Hotmail/live.

Of course you can use a Gmail, @aim.com oder whatever email address to register an MSN account and then add that MSN account to Adium if that's what you mean, yes.
