Sound and Growl stopped working

I no longer receive any sound in Adium at all. I have growl also set up to show anyone new who logs in and keep the growl notification up until I close it, but it isnt popping or making the growl noise I set anymore. I'm currently restoring Adium from Time Machine in hopes that that resolves the issue, but if not any suggestions?

Never mind. I figured it out, but I still don;'t understand why. I paired my bluetooth headset with my computer, but even though I had set the output source as my external speakers Adium was still pushing sound through the headset, while every other application was properly pushing sound through the speakers. Even more peculiar, Growl would not notify me of new buddies signing in until I completely un-paired the bluetooth headset. Any ideas?
