POP ups when I'm away from computer

Post by susanna »

Hello. Adium is just great. But, when I'm away from the computer, I come back and the pop ups are all over my screen. They close automatically when I'm on my laptop. But, when I'm away I can have like 50 open telling me someone is on FB. When I try to close them, it's like playing the kill the gopher game at the amusement park....LOL..I close one and another opens, it is really annoying. I thought I was pretty savvy on the mac but I cannot figure out how to turn this feature off:)))

The pop-ups Adium uses are shown using a central framework called Growl. In your System Preferences, there should be a entry for Growl, could you check if "Make messages sticky after 30 seconds of inactivity" (or something like that, my system is not set to English) there is checked? If so, I think you want to uncheck it :)

I unchecked that. Will it show any notifications at all now?

Yes, it will show the notifications like normal now, regardless of wether you are away from you computer or not.

You can also set Adium to not pop up any Growl notifications when set to Away.

In Preferences/Status double-clicking on each status will open up a dialogue box which will let you change various options, one of which is to silence Growl.
