No longer able to search chatlog queries

Post by H!T »

I'm not sure the exact time this happened but for some reason I am no longer able to search through my chat logs with a word. They are all displayed when i click on peoples names but i can not search for a word, the only results give me results from this month. Ive tried changing the way it orders the search and the time limitatons but nothing changes it. Ive never had this problem before and i havent updated my OS system or adium version so that should not be the cause. Is it perhaps because i have a large amount of logs in a short time from a single user? Everything worked perfectly fine before this month.

ADIUM version: 1.3.7 (I didnt update because if i do it makes it so i cant get offline AIM messages and i dont have a system for the update that fixes it)

Mac OSX 10.4.11 Tiger

I checked the tickets but i only saw a problem with leopard mentioned.

Hi,
we have seen reports of this before but haven't been able to track down the source of the problem.
You could try re-indexing your transcripts via Import - Reindex.

I do not see a "reindex" option. file>import> then it lists ichat accounts, statuses, and transcripts; fire accounts and logs; fire logs

Oh, shucks, sorry, this option isn't in 1.3.x, yet.

I'll get back to you once I've found out how to force a reindex.

I can't tell, sorry but you might as well give it a go. If that does not work, try this:
force reindexing by deleting the following two files:
~/Library/Caches/Adium/Default/Logs.index
~/Library/Caches/Adium/Default/DirtyLogs.plist

I've updated the Troubleshooting page to add an article about unreliable transcript search.

Yeah restart did nothing but deleting those files did it. It can search before this month again. Thanks.... is it normal for on the left it says 4486 transcripts but it missed 5 and it said it was scanning 4481 ? sorry if thats a bit picky its just some of my logs are important i want to make sure it didnt lose something.

The kind of person I am I'd also feel that way but I don't think it's anything to worry about. =-)
