Listing all status changes (idle, away, etc) in IM window?

It used to be that if someone's status changed ([person] went idle, [person] went away, etc.), each one was listed in the IM window.

As of Adium 1.4b18, it displays only the last status change, so that if someone goes from away to idle, the "[person] went idle" message replaces the "[person] went away" message, instead of adding a new line to it.

Is there a way to restore the original behavior?

No, there isn't. you can check in the Transcript Viewer though.

This feature was added in 1.3.
