[1.4] Unread message status

Post by coffeebucket »

I've noticed a change to the message window's behaviour in 1.4 that I just can't figure out.

Whilst inactive, any messages I receive are flagged with (in my case) blue marks in the message window.

Image

When I set focus to the message window, the marks remain; even if I reply to the contact. However, when I do finally move focus away to a different application/window, the flags are cleared.

What is the purpose of this? Does this have anything to do with the "Jump to [Next|Previous] Mark" scrollbar context menu items? Is there a way to turn this behaviour off?

Thanks in advance.

The focus indicators are messages you haven't read yet, e.g. were received while in the background. This behavior is intentional.

A mark is inserted (red line) in the scrollbar where you last left the window, which you can jump to.

The majority of marks are used in group chat where grey lines indicate mentions of your username.

Thanks for the response. It's rare for me to be involved in group chats, so I haven't been able to properly test the "Jump to [X] Mark" functionality. In regular one-on-one chats it seems a bit unnecessary (for my usage anyway).

Is there a way to turn it off? If so, can it be disabled on a per-chat or per-account basis?
