Maybe it is missing, yes.

OK, maybe I can dig the string out and, well, just paste it translated in here?

Have updated to the latest version and tried both slogin.icq.com and login.icq.com, neither work. It keeps asking for my password.

When I visit icq.com and try to request my password I get:
--
At this time, we are unable to retrieve your password.
We regret any inconvenience caused.

Please try again later.

Has this got anything to do with the problems described above, or has something happened to my account?

OK, it seems two checkboxes with labels are missing. For an ICQ account, under acct prefs -> options, they are the two last entries before the footer "Connect when Adium opens".

These are, with translation:
  • AOL Proxy Server: Always use proxy for file transfers and Direct IM
    • AOL-proxy: Använd alltid proxyserver för filöverföringar och snabbmeddelanden
  • Security: Encrypt connection using SSL
    • Säkerhet: Kryptera anslutning med SSL
I resorted to SGML/HTML entities since this forum doesn't handle UTF-8, and I'm too lazy to figure out whether it needs ISO Latin 1 or otherwise :) (A Mac forum not supporting the default Safari encoding? A bit unusual!)

I'd like to suggest that the "Encrypt connection..." message be clarified as "Encrypt the connection to the AOL/ICQ server with SSL" or similar, to distinguish it from OTR support.

Edit: I can now tell you that disabling SSL via en-us locale-based settings pane enables me to log onto ICQ. Now, I wonder why this has to be done for 1.4.1 release, but not for 1.4.1b2, since host names seem to be out of the question as per my previous posts.

stepstone, please file a ticket at trac.adium.im. I'll assign it to the Swedish translator. =-)

Sure thing :)

But what about the issue re: unable to connect after upgrade to rel from ß2? Should I create a ticket for that as well? Also, I posted re: negative countdowns, I suspect that would belong on Trac as well, then.

I didn't quite understand what you meant.

I meant http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic. ... 34#p127779 (last post or so one pg. 1) - is there anything unclear, just tell me and I'll be glad to explain.

I ran 1.4.1ß2, and couldn't connect to ICQ. This thread suggested I change server to login.icq.com, lest I use SSL, when it should be slogin.icq.com. However, slogin.icq.com did not work with SSL enabled, while login... did.

When 1.4.1rel came out, I upgraded, only to find that login... didn't work anymore, giving an SSL handshake error. slogin didn't seem to respond at all. After changing the locale into en-us and turning off SSL, suddenly login works fine once again.

Is this clearer?

(Finally, no double-post, sorry about those, really! Using a mac with only a keyboard and a doubleclicking mouse can be problematic...)

Sorry for being slow on the uptake but where's the question in all that?

The question would be: once the fix suggested is applied, should the release break the fix that the release (also) is supposed to bring? I.e., if the fix works without upgrade, why does it break on upgrade?

Hi,
I'm still having the same problem since sunday. I changed the server at "login.icq.com" but I cant login anymore at all to ICQ. I'm on the newest version of Adium 1.4.1.
Thank You very much

Hi Michaela,
Try toggling the SSL setting on and off again.

In Preferences - Accounts double-click your ICQ account, select the "Options" tab. You should find a setting mentioning "SSL" there.

Oh yeah, I forgot we disabled the setting deliberately. I assume the checkbox isn't checked, though?
