MSN username won't change

I've set my display name on the contact list window to "Kitty Kate", but my friends sees me as my real name.
Then I've tried setting "Kitty Kate" to the "Display Name" field in the personal tab in the accounts menu and "Name" field in the personal tab.

It says "Kitty Kate" on my end, but my friends see it as my real name.

This is MSN on Adium I'm talking about and I really wish that there is someone who could help me...

This has been broken for about a year. The problem lies in libpurple, and the devs there claim that it is Microsoft's fault.

Apparently, the work around is to log in to the web version of MSN and change the nickname there.
