QQ not Connecting

Post by jjustinn »

Searched the forums and haven't been able to find a solution.

Recently downloaded Adium and have activated several accounts.

QQ however, does not connect. I've entered my login/password and Adium tries to connect but it doesn't go farther than that.

The few times it says it does connect there is no indication that it recognizes my list.

Have tried entering the server/port numbers provided on the site to no avail.

Also, I am using VPN.

For what it's worth I am having the same problem. All worked up until early January, but since then I have not been able to login to QQ with Adium 1.4.1. The official QQ Mac client works fine so either the server has changed or something else?

I have just found the following on the Pidgin forums which probably explains the issue:

Indeed it does.

It looks like this will remain a libpurple plugin instead of becoming a bundled protocol in libpurple. This means someone will need to port the plugin to work with Adium. Mightn't be a difficult to do, but still...

Hm, QQ will not be supported anymore in libpurple. Is there none here who wants to port libqq for Adium?
I would do it myself, but I haven't got a clue about programming...
We have decided to discontinue support of the QQ protocol in libpurple and Pidgin as of version 2.8.0. Other implementations are available; please investigate their use if you want to continue using QQ.

I am also using VPN and Adium 1.4.1. After entering username and password, it shows the message connecting, but never goes ahead. I tried it in other machines also, but nothing happened. Then I tried entering the server/port numbers provided on the site, not of any work. Now what I guess is QQ is not compatible with it. I don’t know how much right I am but if it is not the reason, then what else it can be.
