unable to join multi-user chat rooms

This problem began maybe about a month or two ago, where I'll get a group chat invite and the window to the chat won't even open. In other instances, it'll allow me into the chatroom but will eventually disconnect me (usually within about 20 mins.) I've tried several AIM names just in case it was that, but to no avail. Been using meebo for the time being, which has been working, but I'd really like to be able to save the chat transcripts.
