Exclamation mark in jabber username

Hi

I have moved from Ubuntu to Mac os so I am trying Adium but I am having problem with one of my Jabber account in which I have exclamation mark in username. But when I try to write it it Jabber id I get error message:
Invalid Input
The characters you're entering are not valid for an account name on this service.

Al I find about it is this ticket http://trac.adium.im/ticket/14191 which is 10 months old.

Is there any workaround how I could be able to get that ! in my JID?

I am using newest Adium 1.4.1

This will be fixed in 1.5. I think you could download a nightly from http://nightly.adium.im, add the account there and then go back to 1.4.1 (the nightlies are broken though and haven't been updated in a while, so I wouldn't recommend staying on them).

I was able to use ! in 1.5 nightly but when i get back to 1.4.2 it just removed ! from username

So now I'll try using 1.5 and if it would be to buggy will get back to pidgin even if it isnt natively for mac os
