Feature requests

Post by Javataur »

Just two,

1) The obvious request for a tie-in to Google+ not unlike the Facebook one. I would assume this is in the works.
2) The option of moving between tabs using <ctrl> <tab> like Google Chrome or Firefox, since that feels more natural (and some standardization would be nice).

Aside from that, this is great, thanks for putting out the standard for IM programs on any system.

1. Not at the moment as far as I am aware. But if it uses Google Talk ( I couldn't find out using a quick search), then it should already work.

2. Chrome and Firefox are not standards. Apples applications are.

1) Sadly it doesn't, but then that'd be too easy, wouldn't it? G+ is quite like Facebook, so i'm hoping likewise there's an easy way to get the posts from my friends on Adium just like i can with Facebook

2) True, true, i'm not sure how Apple does it, but that feels more natural than <cmd> <arrow>, is easier to do one handed, and is common across both those browsers, Digsby, Foxit (IIRC), and i think Trillium and Open Office.

2. You can do command + number, for a one handed shortcut to switch tabs. But by all means, you are free to open a ticket on trac and suggest it as a feature! :)

Chuckles, "Someone read my mind. Actually it doesn't really surprise me, i asked because i was surprised it hadn't been done yet. There's other things i'd like, but they're bigger (handle contacts as tiles like Trillian, then your contact list can be multiple columns wide and still look good), the type of stuff that would require a lot of work to put in. I can't imagine giving us extra key choices is all that hard to do (yeah, i'm not a programmer, so i'm prolly wrong :) ).

I think Google+ is almost like Facebook. We are very much used with the tabs of Google and Firebox, that is the reason why we feel more natural. I am not saying its tough, it is simple. I am not aware about Apple applications. But some people , I mean my friends, loves it. Standardization would be definitely required. Otherwise both will look like the same. Keys which are easier to do with one hand is the better one.
