Adium not working in Lion

Hello for some reason the adium ver 1.4.2 is not working in mac OS lion. I tried to redownload and reinstall the program but i get an error message saying that the dmg is not recognized.

any ideas?

Sounds like you need to download and install Adium, not try running it from the dmg. Adium runs fine in Lion.

The issue is that it downloads as a dmg from the website. is there a place that i can just download the app without the dmg?

Sounds like the dmg you're downloading is being corrupted en route to your machine. No, there are no alternative download sources. Try downloading it on another machine, or checking any routers or proxies you are using.

I got it to work. I had to download the beta version to fix the issue. Thanks zac for the info that it still worked.

Are you having the same issue or are you getting any different messages or symptoms?

I haven't been able to get Google Chat to work with Adium or iChat since upgrading to Lion. In Adium I got the Spinning Beach Ball o' Doom at startup until I turned off my WiFi connection, disabled Gchat, and restarted the program. The new iChat also chokes on Google, and in much the same way - the program won't respond if it's attempting to log in. Logging into AIM/YIM on either client isn't a problem. Google issue, a problem with my computer specifically, or just a coincidence?

i had the beach ball issue, and adium not being responsive. not sure what the trick was, but after a reboot all seems to be working normally with the beta (including gchat).

Huh, Gchat just started working again in Adium. I'd check it in iChat too, if only I hadn't broken it completely while trying to fix it (and that's a topic for another forum ).

EDIT: Ha! Sorry, everything's allright now...little snith was blocking everything it could, after the upgrade to lion. Adium is working fine now.

I upgraded from OS X 10.6.8 to 10.7 today, and Adium has been broken since. Running Adium 1.4.2. When adium is running, it goes almost immediately into "not responding" status, and stays there until I force quit. I tried rebooting the computer and deleting Adium and installing a newly downloaded copy.

Any suggestions?

Same deal for me. Ever since I installed Lion Adium is totally unresponsive. Most of the time it simply proceeds to lock up completely forcing a force quit. Sometimes it appears to start correctly but after typing about 6 words it freezes.

I've tried a reinstall, clean install, you name it. it worked perfectly in Snow Leopard.

I figured out what my issue was. The Skype plugin: http://www.adiumxtras.com/index.php?a=x ... ra_id=5011 is apparently not yet Lion-friendly.

Removed it and all is well again!

You have just answered a question I was about to ask.

So the Skype pluggin does not work and is causing, at least in my case, Adium to freeze and require a force quit.

Does anyone know when this is likely to be fixed?

I really need and use Skype but its interface stinks compared to Adium and the pluggin gives me the best of both worlds!

I didn't have the Skype plug-in installed, so that wasn't the problem in my case.

I have since upgraded to the 1.4.3b1 beta, and it's working fine. If the problem occurs again, I'll sample it. Thanks!

Mine works mostly fine, but whenever I start it up, my buddy list is halfway down the left side of my screen for some reason. It used to be locked in the upper left corner, but every single time I close and open it again, it's halfway down the left side again. o.o

Here after upgrading to the Lion, I can not see the display pictures of my contacts.

Anyone have any idea how to solve?

Adium generally works on my Lion. I am using 1.4.3b1. However sometimes it quietly quits after few minutes of inactivity.
I would like to investigate this problem further. Where are application log files are located? Thanks!
