Salvatore,
I just wanted to write to say how much I appreciate this! I just found the thread and have everything set up to test out over the next few days. The syncing of the read state seems a little strange, but I'll give things some time in actual use before posting any bugs.
Thanks,
Shawn

Re: Google Reader Sync
Hi Guys!
A new beta release is out ^_^ (2800.4)
Changelog:
* Using an unique download queue for Google Reader Feeds and Local Feeds
* Users can choice how many concurrent downloads Vienna should support (like NetNewsWire)
* Fixed a BIG issue with OAuth 2.0 token not available on Vienna startup
* Added support for UNSUBSCRIBING Google Reader RSS feeds directly from Vienna
* Added support for 304 HTTP StatusCode (Not Modified) to optimize feeds with no new items from last check
* This build (tnx to barijaona) support only Intel (10.5 / 10.6 / 10.7). I need to find a PPC MAC to compile for PowerPc (Universal Build support)
* Lot of BugFixes
Of course is still work in progress, so you can find bugs!
Tnx for your time,
Salvatore

2800.4 crashing
Salvatore,
Thanks for more significant improvements! The performance improvement is great. And after half a day of running 2800.4 I've seen far less -- though still some -- of old/read articles showing up as new/unread; and those that do frequently disappear after another refresh.
One thing I think you'll want to know about: 2800.4 on 10.6.8.1 suddenly started crashing on refresh. I can send along the User Diagnostic Report if you'd like (but not sure you want me posting the whole thing, so please give me instructions on how to send it if you want it).
First time it crashed I simply removed the cache; restarted, crashed again. Then I removed the Application Support folder (I have only GR sync feeds, no local) and the cache and it's stayed up now and seems to be fine.
May or may not be related: I'm seeing really long console messages about feeds not found on the server. Seeing them as well on my 10.7.2 system running 2800.4 (though it has not crashed).

Re: Google Reader Sync
Um... Let me re-state that. From time to time I'm still seeing articles fetched that date to 2009/2010/2011. Frequently, intermittently, but several times/day.Does make it more difficult to move among a couple of Macs running Vienna and Feedler o iOS. Each time the old/read articles show up in V it takes a few minutes to clear them out & decided from what point you need to start reading from.

Re: Google Reader Sync
Ansani, even in Lion, you can apparently install Xcode 3.2.6. See this : http://divineabomination.blogspot.com/2 ... ke-it.htmlbarijaona wrote: It builds without problem on Xcode 3.2.6
Rename the /Developer folder before, if you want to have the two installs alongside.
Here, I have 4.2 in /Developer and 3.2.6 in /Xcode3
Xcode 3.2.6 can be downloaded at https://developer.apple.com/devcenter/d ... dk_4.3.dmg

Can you paste a crashlog ? (of course if it appears on Lion).kao wrote: This morning 2800.4 crashed on my 10.7.2 system during refresh.
I'm doing a lot of code rewrite to handle correctly all OAuth response from Google (and yes, I'll support the dam new P3P privacy cookie...).
This should fix all token expiring issue you notices (read/unread status not coherent between Vienna and GR).

Re: Google Reader Sync
GR web page unreliable message dates/times.
FWIW, I've just noticed that I refreshed my view on GR web page and received 25 articles timestamped more than four hours ago. I'd read everything a couple of hours ago. Buggy Google?

Re: Google Reader Sync
GR crawler refresh a feed using an internal algo (based on how many new articles a feed provide on daily/hourly basis). Maybe feed updated articles so GW processed like new articles.kao wrote: I've just noticed that I refreshed my view on GR web page and received 25 articles timestamped more than four hours ago. Re: Google Reader Sync
Thank you for your ongoing support Ansani. I have a question, the sparkle update always fails with an error for me. Is there something I can do about that? I rename the app "Vienna". Is that it?
Re: Google Reader Sync
What error do you get ?
I think (but I'm not really sure) that you should not rename the app

Re: Google Reader Sync
Hi Salvatore!
I still get spontaneous crashes (i.e. app running in the background) with ViennaBeta 2800.5
You'll find the crash log report attached.
For the time being, I've moved back to version 2800.3, which is quite stable on my system and mostly works, depending on the feeds: some are truly synced, some are not.
Anyway, once more, thank you so much for all the work involved.
Thierry

Re: Google Reader Sync
@pumpkin34: really really strange... I see on your crashlog that Vienna crash on a really simple instruction...
Do you have local and remote feeds ?
Can you execute Vienna from CommandLine (ViennaBeta.app/Contents/MacOS/ViennaBeta) and attach all output when Vienna crash ??
I'm planning also to implement a Debug option to Vienna so I can easily analyze crash reports
Tnx for your time testing Vienna,
Salvatore

Re: Google Reader Sync
You're welcome. I'm running Vienna from command line now… waiting for a crash. All my feeds are remote now, no local feed left.
