GR crawler refresh a feed using an internal algo (based on how many new articles a feed provide on daily/hourly basis). Maybe feed updated articles so GW processed like new articles.
What is the feed ?

Unfortunately I didnt notice. Will keep an eye on it. You could be right about feeds updating articles.

I tried naming it ViennaBeta again, but Sparkle still tells me "An error occurred".

Having a different update issue - it crashes before I can try installing the update. Do you have a download link?

Hey, I just tried Mountain Lion and Safari 5.2 beta and the new Webkit makes Vienna turn up empty. It'd be great to be able to continue using Vienna during the beta period...? Thanks for all the effort put into this!

Crashing on startup

Post by benst »

Hi,

Suddenly this latest version crashed, and now it continues to crash on startup. I have attached the crash log. I ran the regular Vienna, and it does not crash, so I assume it has something to do with the new Google Sync code.

Let me know if I can do anything to track this down.

Kind regards,
Ben

The preferences file (uk.co.opencommunity.vienna2.plist) might be useful.

Done, I have added it to my previous message. The board would not let me upload a .plist file, so I had to zip it.

Ok, I managed to get Vienna back in shape:

- I first started the regular Vienna and turned of the preference for automatically updating the feeds on startup.
- Next I ran the Google Sync Vienna beta, and started updating each feed manually until it crashed.
- Reran the beta and deleted the feed.

The feed that was causing trouble was indeed a google reader feed. If anybody's interested in investigating this, the url is http://www.kritischdenken.info/KDfeed.rss

I could not reproduce the bug with a recent build...

I am still spotting different errors in the GoogleReader class.

Is there anything newer than 2800.5 then?

Crashing on synced feed

Post by benst »

Same thing happens as I mentioned in my message above, now with a different feed. Vienna crashes as soon as it refreshed this feed, which is synced from google reader: http://waxy.org/index.xml

This is with 2800.6. I have attached the crash log and plist.

Kind regards,
Ben

Hello
First, thanks to all for testing.

@benst : are you sure you were on 2800.6 ? your .crash file quotes 2800.5

@shawn : your problem is related to database update ; I have encountered similar issues this afternon and I am still investigating.

I'll probably post a 2800.7 beta in a few hours. I am not sure it will fix this particular issue, but some Lion problems could be solved.

I also have frequent crashes (once a day). I just delete the database and start from scratch (the GR sync comes in handy!), but it's a bit annoying. That's probably the same database error the other user is having.
Here's a crash log:

Yes I am sure. I think you are mistaken. I have just downloaded the crash file from my message above and it clearly states in the beginning:

Process: ViennaBeta [8812]
Path: /LocalApps/ViennaBeta.app/Contents/MacOS/ViennaBeta
Identifier: uk.co.opencommunity.vienna2
Version: 2800.6 (2800.6)

Perhaps you were looking at the crash log a few messages earlier?

Sorry for the confusion. It appears that you both encountered the same problem.

I hope to fix it soon.
