Both the "Delete this preview" button and the "Replace this thumbnail" option don't work either in Safari or in Firefox; I'm running 10.3.9 with the latest updates etc.

No, they don't work. I mentioned it a while ago, but the X(tras) site is in a bit of a limbo at the moment, so unfortunately it's not likely to get changed for a while yet.

What's happened to it? Does this also mean that the status icons / misc sections etc are not going to appear as soon as .8 is released?

I heard on the grapevine that it's going to undergo a change of ownership. I have no idea if/when the new sections will appear, I would imagine they will follow 0.8 fairly closely though :)
