what was wrong with v0.77 prefs window?

choosing the chat window look is more difficult now than it used to be.

i used v0.8 for about 10 mins and it already crashed, so its no way more stable than v0.77, which rarely crashed for me.

you sound like you already have a vendetta against .80, changes dont mean anything was wrong, this are being updated to better reflect what we are offering, choosing the message style is almost identical to the way it has been since we started offering Wek Kit Views... I also havent had a crash in a while, so maybe there are problems on your end?

i don't know...i've never had any problems with my network before.

i know i need to open ports, so it can file transfer with adium, unless that was changed.

i did just finally figure out how to set up my buddy list, almost to what it used to be like, though it still doesn't seem to be the same.

i don't mind change, but v0.8 just seems so much different and is more confusing to change to how i like.

if it takes you 8 days then wow! im usually sick of it by the time we get to the meal in the first seder And this year was even worse adding most of Friday and all of Shabbat when its not the holiday yet, but the house was already clean...

Yeah, that was the only good thing about a Saturday night seder - all the cooking was done Friday, and I had all day Saturday to relax. Well there was one other good thing - getting to eat egg matzah on Saturday, which I like and can't usually eat during the actual 8 days of Passover.

I happen to have a weakness for matzah with butter - yum.

The prefs for the Contact List do the same thing, but have been moved around. All of them are under appearance however. What can't you get that you could in .7x?

i can't get the buddy list to look how i had it in v0.77. i got it close to it, but it still doesn't look right. maybe the spacing is off...i'm not sure. i still have to play with it.

why couldn't v0.8 just use the prefs from v0.77? as in...it loads everything i had in v0.77, like versions before v0.77 did.

i found yet another thing v0.8 has issues with...

it didn't save my status' from v0.77. i tell it to save my custom away messages, but it didn't.

also, changing my status is more difficult now, than it was in v0.77

This might seem kind of annoying, but in what way is it harder to change your status? Just trying to figure it out so I can be of some use

well...i guess i complained about the status too soon. i didn't notice the "custom" at the top of the status menu. so changing the status is kind of easier now.

i guess it just comes down to putting a lot more time put into customizing the buddy list than before...

The controls themselves did not change for customizing the contact list. Their are all under the appearance pane. Between the customize buttons and controls at the bottom of the pain yo have every single control you did in .77 under the contact list pane. And the new prefs are beautiful thank you very much. Also I don't see why you can't get the same contact list, because it keeps all of the contact list presets from before, with the exception of the opacity and auto resize and a few option under the view menu.

well it didn't keep my prefs from 0.77. i had mine set with a customed color theme, flat for list layout and contact bubbles for window style. in v0.8, it changed the color theme to one of the pastels, i think, the list layout was changed to normal and the window style was changed to regular window. though it did keep my custom color settings, it didn't load up with it selected.

how do i make so i see the person i'm chatting with, status change in the message window? i can't find the option and its not showing up, when my friend changes their status.

Make sure you are using a message view that has been updated for .8
