Adium parrot disappears from dock

The Adium parrot has disappeared from the dock when it is NOT in use so when I want to use it I have a hard time finding it!! When it is open it is fine and I see the parrot/bird. Works fine otherwise and no changes have been made to any software or my computer etc. so it should still work. Have gone through all preferences with no luck. Is there a way to make it appear in the dock when NOT in use? thanks

As with all apps in the Dock, right click it, select Preferences and then Keep in Dock.

Or just drag Adium to the Dock before starting it.

And Adium is a duck, not a parrot.

Oops sorry that duck is still cute I did that and I guess it had to be open--I was working with it closed. thank you
