Hi,
Sorry for my ignorance as I have never used Adium, but my friend contacted me today regarding a conversation she had with someone that was using my email address on Adium. This is a gmail email account that I have and it looks like a spammer has gotten hold of it.
I use a two step verification with my email address so if someone had of tried accessing my email direct from a new IP I would have received a sms. I've checked my email account and nothing seems to look like it had been hacked, however for precautionary reasons I have changed my password.
Does anyone know how this could have happened? Does Adium not verify email addresses for when you log into it and they are somehow using it without my permission? And if so how could they get to my gmail contacts?
Any help would be great!
Thanks.

Re: Email address Hijacked on Adium
I don't know if Adium has any additional security for XMPP (Which I assume you are talking about, since you don't mention in), but if you are scared, simply just change your password. Or check your logs to verify someone wasn't using your computer.
