It already is in the .8 beta's. Just control click the person's name in the contact list and there is a block or unblock option.

Both block and unblock are greyed out for MSN contacts... AIM seems ok though.

MSN block And un block

Post by pedromperez80 »

I've downloaded adium beta rc-3, and msn block and unblocking option is unavaliable, Does someone knows, if this option is going to be implemented for the MSN contacts?

You can unblock contacts, but only if you try to do so after blocking them but before either of you go offline. I.E, if you block someone and log off, when you next log on, as you said, you wont be able to unblock them. Not sure what the problem is I suppose Adium has trouble recognising blocked contacts when it signs in.
This is our decision, to live fast and die young.

Blocking works fine in MSN for me, and recent releases have solved my unblocking issues.

It's not a bug. It's an undocumented feature.

Blocking somone who is not a contact

Post by jheikeb »

Congrats on the great release, with invisibility I can now toss Messenger. Ran into something my first night out. I got booted by a spammer on Yahoo. Naturally I would like to block all 55 accounts the booter used to spam me. Problem is I can only block someone in my contact list and I don't want to add those accounts just to block them. It would be nice if I could select the names in my log and block them. If yahoo doesn't support this, it would be nice if Adium added it's own internal list of names that I don't want sending messages. The ability to filter booter-like messages would also be nice to prevent the lockup in the first place.

Again, great work!

Actually an internal list wouldn't work as Adium would have to receive the messages to get them effectively blocked :)

I just figured that it wasn't so much the receiving of the text that locked up Adium as it was the spawning of 55 chat windows having hundreds of IMs sent to each. I don't mind getting the messages either, but I did mind Adium locking up from the spam.

Ah you made it sound like you were being kicked off of Yahoo by the server. Nevermind.

I want to block all non-contacts ala Yahoo

I don't want to block a contact. I want to block all non-contacts, ala Yahoo.

This is apparently _not_ in 0.8.

Is it planned?
