History Appearing Incorrectly

Post by rnizlek »

I just loaded Adium .8 in 10.4 and now when the last few lines of the previous message come up when I open a new window (message history), any new conversations are not reflected in the window (the last conversation I had with the individual in .77 is what appears). However, when I open the message history viewer, they are present and logged.

Is this an outstanding issue?

For some reason, I don't recall hearing about this issue in the Beta Test. I too am having this problem (since RC2?).

I am using 10.3.9, though. Hopefully, this can get fixed?

I'm also suffering from this issue. It didn't happen in previous betas, only v.8 and .81

This may be fixed for the next version (see changesets 11844 and 11845 for those interested in such things). I haven't checked if that's exactly what it addresses, but it looks related.

It's been happening for me since the advent of the history feature. I beleive it has to do with when the logs were indexed.

Unless I'm much mistaken, Logs and History are kept separately.

Yeah I have the same problem since I updated to .80. The problem hasn't improved in the .81 update. It seems like the history is stuck on the day I updated. Anyone figure this one out yet? Thanks for all the great work.

Yep.. it's known

Too bad that the beta group is gone to the unwashed masses, I'd just link Adam/Evan/et al's responses when I inquired about this in the past. To summarize, logs and message histories are kept separately, and the message/history sync up occurs when you quit Adium. So, if you have a crash, the sync up won't occur, and you'll pretty much SOL. If you're seeing this behavior outside of crashes, I'm sure the devs would like to hear about it.

I understand that the two things are separate, but this behavior goes beyond this. Even if Adium is quit gentlely, the histories do not update. Since I upgraded to 0.81 around the time I upgraded to Tiger, I am afraid I cannot tell for sure which change has caused the issue.

It's a bug, it's fixed in source awaiting the next release.

Cool, thanks for all your hard work on Adium. I am still amazed by the quality of the program.
