can't change fonts in .80?!

Post by Snarkim »

For some reason, .80 will not let me change my outgoing message font. Every time I go to the fonts menu and click on another font, it always goes back to Helvetica. It's getting really annoying, since it worked for me when I was using .77.

Try again later...

No. Seriously.

For me that has been an intermittent problem at most.

Yeah, same here...it sticks for a while, and then sometimes it reverts back. I even go in and change it in fomatting.plist, but...yeah..not a huge issue, I'm sure it will work itself out.

Yea Adium Devs! :D

I think I had posted this a while ago: I have noticed this in relation to whatever Shapshifter theme I have installed. For example, I am currently using Paper and Plastic and it displays the fonts properly, but when I installed another one (which one in particular is escaping me now....I think it may have been Fetish, although it has happened with several others) font display *always* reverted to Helvetica.

I'm also having font issues in .80; after trying to send a file (didn't work, but I'm behind a firewall), my font was reset to Helvetica 12pt (I think); I could get the text formatting pallette (cmd-t), but changing my font there did nothing to the text in the text entry field of the message window. Copying and pasting-with-current-stye (cmd-opt-v) allowed me to change it. The person I was talking to said he never saw a difference in what I sent, though, except when I had italics for a message or two.

i had the font problem with the 0.8 switch what i did was
remov the /library/adium 2.0/users/ folder and everything was set to default. I changed everything back to the way i like it, and i haven't had the problem since.

Hope this works for you :D

Update: in .81, file transfer still wrecks my font, but I can change it back using the text formatting pallette, now.

Yeah, after installing .81 it seems to hold color and font now.

For me, it has never worked. I'm using Adium since version 0.76 or something like this, and I was nerver able to set my outgoing messages' font.

When I change the police only the time stamps and the signaling ("blah closed the window", e.g.) are written using the new font...

I changed of computer inbetween, so I suppose it has nothing to do with the computer.

cheers, kaz.

PS : still doesn't wirk with 0.81

The preference "Text Display" in the Message preferences does NOT change your font. It changes the font displayed in the message view.

To change your outgoing font, select an IM and press Command-T and command-shift-C, or go to the Format menu and select "Show Font" and "Show Colour" to change it :) Very common misconception.
