That was just one of those things. Am very angry right now.
I have a lot of years of technical and literary RSS in Apple Mail X.6.8.
I would like to move my RSS feeds and their content to Vienna on X.8.3
Is this possible somehow? I have already converted to X.8.3 - my RSS are in Mail/RSS folder on back-up HD.
I have tried to import directly from the RSS folder on back-up HD - to no avail.
What do I do?
Please!
OS X.6.8 -> X.8.3 = Lost ALL RSS in Apple Mail!

These tools might enable getting your subscriptions list into Vienna : https://github.com/DaNmarner/ExtractMailRSS or http://blog.mikecargal.com/?p=180
But for the archives, you will probably have to open the individual .emlx files in Mail and perhaps use the "Message->Move To" feature...

This might also be useful (I haven't tested it, though) : http://www.cosmicsoft.net/emlxconvert.html

Re: OS X.6.8 -> X.8.3 = Lost ALL RSS in Apple Mail!
Thanks, but I already moved the lists themselves.
The content is a different kettle of fish: We are talking some 20.000 RSS-messages.
I do not understand that no tool exist to export/import .emlx files - I know I am not the first person wanting to retain old messages.
And specifically why Vienna doesn't support import of content.
http://www.cosmicsoft.net/emlxconvert.html is only valid up to Tiger, when Apple changed from mbox to .emlx format.
I have tried to import RSS files (from Mail) from backed up folders on my back-up HD - each post in every RSS subscription ends up in its OWN folder! Thats 20.000 folders...
Apple, what...? What?!

Because :kkrabat wrote: And specifically why Vienna doesn't support import of content.
- nobody requested before
- import is a "run once" function, and should probably be implemented as a separate utility,
- emlx is a proprietary format for mail messages, and Vienna is not a mail client…
Anyway, Mozilla Thunderbird may interest you. Have a look at the second message of this thread : http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=2341679
For the record, Vienna's database format is described in this Microsoft Word document, and I found a Python utility able to read .emlx files here.

Re: OS X.6.8 -> X.8.3 = Lost ALL RSS in Apple Mail!
thanks for answering.
Thanks for the tool references, but where do I place the conversions?
At the present point in time, probably very certainly!- nobody requested before. I'd add that from a "marketing" point of view, import of Google Reader's "takeout" would probably be more rewarding nowadays than import of Apple's Mail…
Sure, but people remember and recommend, when needs are met.- import is a "run once" function, and should probably be implemented as a separate utility,
Fair enough. But do people NOT save their RSS? Is it just me being anal? But f.ex. I can search any message that I kept thus only searching in news items that I already know will interest me. Great advantage over googling all over again.- emlx is a proprietary format for mail messages, and Vienna is not a mail client…
