growl not doing anything with Adium

Post by freshyill »

I set a ton of events to notify me with Growl in Adium, but nothing seems to work. Growl "sees" Adium in the system prefs, but nothing happens. Am I missing something?

I was just getting ready to post here, looks like you beat me to it...LOL. Anyway, I'll still put what I was planning on typing:

"I have Growl and it works great for iTunes, ecto, and everything else I have it set up for...except Adium.

I checked to make sure everything was checked and all the settings were correct, but I'm still not getting any alerts for it. Is there something I'm missing on Adium?"

Thanks,
Patrick

PS: I am running Tiger, but I don't think that makes a difference.

Got an answer in the Adium forum...you have to go into your Events preferences in Adium and set a growl notification

Good morning,

Same problem here...

To have a Growl notification, I have to set it in Events preferences in Adium (0.80  ).
Is it really the good way?

Because, when I did it, my new beautyful Adium crashed....
(sent a bug report)

Thanks,

BLD

Everyone running Italian, German, Dutch, or French is going to crash pretty consistently in the events prefs. The rest of us are fine. I just found why and fixed it for 0.81. :)

Bonjour evands,

It's what I was thinking about... But I didn't dare to say it...

Thanks for your answer, I'll tell it on the french forum.

Merci pour tout! :D

À bientôt,

Ah, allright, so this is what you need to do..

Question: How do you really set a growl notification? (I've found the Alert-page)

Does anyone feel like telling me how you make Growl work with Adium and set a growl notification?

Just make an event in the adium event preferences for what you want, and set it to send a notification using Growl.

At this point this has become a Adium thread about its Growl support, so I'm moving this to the Adium forums. Also, there should be information at http://trac.adiumx.com.

Click search and then type in Growl and you should find it.

i'm still not having any luck with getting adium to send growl notifications (i'm using Adium 0.81 and have tried both Growl 0.6.2 and 0.7b5, but with no luck).

i've followed all the instructions-- adium has registered with growl, i've enabled everything in the growl preference pane, and i've gone to the events section of the adium preferences to set up growl notifications for virtually every possible kind of event.

with all this, i've never had adium display a single growl notification (my other programs are working fine with growl). i even tried the "Visual Notifications" event preset in adium, like the wiki suggested, just to make sure that i'm not doing anything wrong. still no luck.

does anyone have any suggestions of either what i might be doing wrong or how i might fix it? i would really love to get this working.

thanks so much!

That adium event prefs doesn't show us anything it's doing. Expand the disclosure triangles with Growl events in them.

Ya :D Tons better.

Can you go grab meow off macupdate or notification watcher from tildesoft and see if adium is sending any notifications?

i just installed meow. growl notifications from other programs are showing up in meow, but nothing from adium. so i guess that means that the problem is on adium's side?

I'm having the same problem as slickdolce (adium is set up correctly, growl is set up correctly). It's never worked since I put Adium on about two months ago. If it means anything, when Adium originally asked me if it wanted to put its version of growl on, I declined (i'm not sure but I think I had a version of growl i downloaded from the growl.info website).

Anyway to reset the settings without losing the acounts and such?
