Growl....just not customisable enough...
Growl....just not customisable enough...
Hi peeps,
Is it just me or do you think Growl just isn't customisable enough?
All the 'Display Styles' just don't have enough customisation. You can't choose an exact position...size...colour...transition etc.
A program like this has all the potential to be awesome but at the moment I just don't think it is good enough.
Any other comments?
Ollie

any change in applescript interface?
my little feature request:
tree view in growl prefpane. I want to add customability to growliChat s.t. users can pick which notification they want or they do not want. But, to put all of them listing in one long list is kinda messy and not user friendly.

I've only just started messing around with Growl, so forgive me if this has been answered already...
Speaking of customisation, are there any plans to let the user choose a different display style for each application? For instance, the Music Video one is cool for when iTunes changes tracks, but not really that wonderful for, say, people in iChat changing status.
...and I just noticed that GrowlTunes doesn't actually do anything if I've got the Synergy option disabled in the Growl prefpane. I can disable GrowlTunes completely, however, and the pop-ups still work fine. Why so?

Aye, I noticed... I was just wondering why no notifications appear if the Synergy one is disabled, but GrowlTunes is on.The_Tick wrote:Synergy can use Growl as well.VirtualWolf wrote:Aye, I do.Do you have synergy running at all?

Lord if I know, let's start trouble shooting. What version of iTunes are you using? OS X version? Which Growl did the GrowlTunes you are using ship with? If you look in Activity Monitor or do a ps -auxww | grep -i growltunes, is growltunes running?
Fine, if you guys want to give constructive feedback on how Growl is bloated (funny in a thread about Growl not being featureful enough) go on.medicine wrote:wordeevyl wrote:You know, I think that Growl is becoming too customizable too fast. My particular feel is that I smell bloat boiling point coming to a close.
Maybe that's just me though.

You can use priority in combination with color settings in the displays tab. It's not that easy a thing to find thoughCarnivean wrote:Agreed on both counts.Definitely not bloated. Keep up the good work!!
I hope that there soon will be color customization and, especially, the ability to determine how long the notification remains on the screen. (If there are currently ways to do either, then I haven't discovered them).
