Gmail notifier

Is there any reason why adium couldnt include a popup/growl gmail notifier?

I know its hardly tied in to a chat protocol but I think many people may find it useful.

The dashboard widget "notifiers" are next to useless.

I think you will find gCount to your liking.

I have found the best Gmail notifier is Mail.app with GrowlMail
