At first, I didn't care for the .8 changes in idle and away messages. But having taken a bit of time to look at it, I guess it's actually not bad at all. It's just hard getting used to the new deal.
The only thing is... I
liked being able to set myself idle quickly with a simple menu selection. It didn't take me long to figure out how to make a preset that would do the job, but there's no quick way to set a custom idle time. Yes yes, I know we "shouldn't" be doing that

, but I've found it to be very handy in avoiding people I don't want to talk to at the moment but don't want to block (ie: making it look like I've been gone for hours). It's basically just a different way of going invisible, and if the developers are going to enable the stalkers that way, what's the big deal in enabling the people who want to
avoid the stalkers?
I've made some preset idle times, of course, but now my status menu is clogged with them. Also, what if I want to set myself idle while already away? I now have to create several different presets of the same away message, one idle and one not?
This is the only important part of the post, so feel free to ignore the rest of my rambling. I'd like to suggest that in addition to the current way to go idle, why not create a little checkbox on the floating status window that appears when away that lets you go immediately idle while remaining away without having to go to the menu to custom-create one or select a preset? When checked, the window could expand dynamically to allow custom idle to be set (or not). And by unchecking the box, you go active again. Basically turn it into a one-click thing. I'm no expert, but from a UI perspective, it seems to me that a single click is preferable to menu selections. (If someone already suggested that, my apologies. It's late and I'm squinting at the screen trying to read.)
